Frequently Asked Questions

What do I wear in ballet class?

Anything you’re comfortable in! Most of my dancers wear gym clothes, some wear leotards and skirts and others wear tracksuits. If you don’t have ballet shoes, please wear socks as being barefoot can be uncomfortable in ballet. Ballet shoes should be fitted and purchased in person and for this, I’d recommend Bloch.

Can I join if I am a beginner?

Absolutely, we were all beginners at something once upon a time! I often do workshops or retreats which are tailored for those with minimal experience to those who have been dancing on average 1-2 years. I would recommend some online 1:1 coaching classes initially if you’re a complete beginner to get you familiar with the basics.

What equipment do I need?

If you’re training at home, it’s important the floor you dance on isn’t too hard (like stone or concrete) or too slippery. Wooden floors or Lino are ideal. Portable dance floor can be purchased from Harlequin if desired. A high and stable chair or ironing board make a good makeshift ballet barre but I’d recommend a portable ballet barre from The Barre.

Where are you based?

I am based and teach face to face in Birmingham and, with notice, I can also teach in London primarily in The City and West London. I also do the occasional online class on Zoom.

Are you insured?

Absolutely! For more online class safety info please see our Safety and Liability Waiver.

Do I need to be a certain age?

As long as you’re over 16 years of age, there's absolutely no age restriction on any of my classes. I specialise in teaching ballet and meditation to adults and the nature of my teaching suits those over the age of 16.

Can we chat beforehand?

Yes! I love to meet via a Zoom or FaceTime call beforehand to discuss anything related to our work together.
