Our classes together are based around 3 key pillars …
Movement
When you regularly dance classical ballet you will discover a multitude of benefits including improved posture and core strength, elongation and strengthening of muscles, expression and musicality, a deeper connection to your femininity, better alignment and co-ordination awareness and therefore mastery of balance. Your body cannot be graceful without first being strong so we will work to build your overall physically which enables your artistry and natural fluidity of movement to shine through. I may also introduce you to other training modalities such as body conditioning or martial arts if I feel they will benefit your dancing.
Mobility
Our bodies must be prepared for the workload we place upon them and classical ballet in particular is a very demanding technique. Mobility training is a go-to for injury prevention and with regular practice we enable our joints to access an incredible range of movement we didn’t know we had. In classical ballet we always desire more space. We are referring to the openness of our joints and the lengthening ability of our muscles. A healthy body is both strong and long so expect to see and feel an increase in your flexibility as you begin to move more freely. Beautifully strong yet free moving joints with plenty of space, fluency and articulation.
Mindset
Breathwork and other mindfulness practices have been a powerful asset throughout my career. During times of conflict, trauma or when training becomes difficult breathwork meditation can be used to realign us with our purpose and goals. It helps us maintain a sharpness of concentration, rationality, sense of clam and awareness for the present moment. A wonderful tool for helping to lessen performance nerves and anxiety. As our breathing is also effected by our state of mind, shifting into a calmer and more positive mindset means we must consciously change the depth and pattern of our breath, leading to transformational heath benefits.
