Glasgow Day Retreat
with
Bethany Kingsley-Garner
Former Scottish Ballet principal ballerina Bethany Kingsley-Garner and I are thrilled to be offering a very festive themed Day Retreat once again in Glasgow and this time, we are learning the iconic Sugar Plum Fairy from Scottish Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker!
This Day Retreat will be suitable for strong Improver - Intermediate level adult ballet dancers.
-
Saturday 7th December
10am - 4.30pm
9 places remaining
This Day Retreat will begin with a floor barre and mobility warm up before a 2 hour ballet class. Then after a lunch break will we return to the studio for a Sugar Plum Fairy repertoire workshop, photo opportunities and then finishing with a relaxing stretch and breathwork session to allow the body to fully restore and absorb all we’ve learnt.
The character of the Sugar Plum Fairy symbolises femininity, regality, generosity and strength with choreography to match. A dynamic build up of steps and flashy footwork including intricate petit battements, luscious upper body epaulement, petit allegro, sustained arabesque balances and controlled turns. An exciting challenge of your technique and endurance! Modifications of the choreography will be made to suit all participants at the appropriate level.
This Day Retreat is tailored for adult ballet dancers at an Improver - Intermediate level and those at a strong Beginner level who wish to challenge themselves are also welcome!
Take a look at our Level Guide for more info.
